What you need before you start

Gather the recipient's preferred name and email, exactly three photos, a short headline and a message for each photo. Log in to WishHappyBday with a free account. You will build the page in the browser and then return to WhatsApp to share it.

Step 1: Build the birthday page first

Open the free Standard builder and sign in. Choose Template, then Music. Work through Photo 1, Photo 2 and Photo 3, adding a message beside each image and a greeting in the first step. Choose a template that matches the relationship. You can preview the page before sending it, so take thirty seconds to check it on your own phone first.

Step 2: Get your shareable link

Once you publish the page, you get one link, unique to that celebration. This is the only thing you need to send — nobody has to create an account, install anything, or sign in to view it. On the published celebration, use Copy celebration link in the share bar, or copy the address bar URL.

Step 3: Paste the link directly into WhatsApp

Open the WhatsApp chat or group, paste the copied link, and add a short personal sentence. A preview may appear after WhatsApp fetches the page; preview behavior varies by app, device, and connection. Open the link yourself before sending so you know the page works even if the preview is delayed.

If no preview appears, check that the link opens on its own. A missing preview is not proof that the link is broken, and retyping the URL can introduce errors.

Step 4: Send it at the right moment

A customer celebration stays live for 24 hours after it opens. Leave the opening time blank to start when you publish, or set a scheduled opening time in the builder. Opening the link later does not restart the window. Check the opening time carefully. Scheduling uses your creator country's local time and a matching browser time zone where applicable. The opening time cannot be changed afterward.

For a midnight surprise, check the selected opening time and time zone. If several people are involved, agree on one sender and one time. Scheduling the page does not send a WhatsApp message automatically; you still choose the chat and press Send.

Sending it in a group chat

Group celebrations work the same way, with one extra step worth taking: add a short line above the link explaining what it is, especially if the group is large or mixed with people who do not know each other well. Something like "We made this for [name]'s birthday — tap to open" removes any hesitation people have about tapping an unfamiliar link. On WishHappyBday, guests can add a name and a wish to the published page without an account. Other visitors may need to reload the page to see new wishes.

Why the link sometimes shows as plain text

A link can appear as plain text when a preview is delayed or unavailable. That does not by itself mean the celebration is broken. Open the link in a private browser or send it to your own chat to test the destination. If it fails to open, copy the original link again from the published page.

Share a birthday image in a WhatsApp chat or Status

On the live celebration, open Share, choose WhatsApp, then choose Share in a chat or Share as Status. You can prepare a single-photo card or collage. If your browser supports file sharing, the device share sheet opens so you can choose WhatsApp and the recipient. You complete the sending or posting yourself.

If direct file sharing is unavailable, the site downloads the image and supplies the link and text. For a chat, attach the downloaded image yourself. For Status, open WhatsApp, choose Updates and My Status, then select the image and add the supplied text. A photo does not carry a clickable birthday-page link inside its pixels, so send the live link directly to the birthday person too.

No. The creator needs a free WishHappyBday account, but guests can view a Standard birthday page and leave wishes without one. Standard creation and sharing are free. Premium has separate optional features; it is not required to send the birthday page link.

A quick pre-send checklist

Before sending, check the person's name, photo orientation, and any private details. Open the link once yourself. A preview card is helpful when it appears, but the working destination matters more.

Attach the birthday video as well as the link

The live link is the way to open the full celebration and leave wishes. For a customer celebration, MP4 access belongs to the logged-in creator with the required entitlement. Check the current terms and save it while the page is live. Attach the file separately for people who prefer a recap, and share private photos only with the intended group.

Getting these right the first time means you get to enjoy their reaction instead of following up with "wait, I meant to say..." five minutes later.
